Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m in the process of registering as a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC, and most extended health insurance plans cover counselling services. I'd recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your coverage details. At this time however, I'm unable to provide direct billing services.

  • There is no charge for appointments cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours or missed appointments (no-shows) are subject to the full session fee. However, I understand that unexpected things happen, and each client receives one free late cancellation or no-show per year.

  • At this time, I offer in-person appointments on Fridays in Abbotsford and hope to add another day soon. Beginning in 2026, I’ll also be offering in-person appointments in Agassiz on Tuesdays.

  • In a free consultation with me, I typically share a bit about myself and how I work as a therapist, so you can get a sense of my approach and whether it feels like a good fit. I also like to hear what’s bringing you to counselling and explore a bit of the “why” behind it — without needing to go into your full story just yet. The consultation is really a chance for us both to get a feel for whether working together would be supportive and aligned with your needs.

  • This varies for each person. Many people start with weekly sessions and then move to bi-weekly or monthly as progress continues. We’ll discuss what feels right for your goals and schedule.

  • Yes, I offer virtual appointments for clients who prefer or need to meet online. My online schedule is Thursdays, but I can be flexible to meet on my “in person” days if that fits your schedule better.

  • Yes, confidentiality is a core part of therapy. The only exceptions are situations where there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, or when required by law (for example, cases of child abuse or a court order).

  • It depends on the nature of our previous relationship. Ethical guidelines require therapists to maintain clear professional boundaries, which means I can’t provide counselling if we’ve had a close personal relationship. However, if I supported you in a professional doula capacity, we can explore whether therapy together would be appropriate. In some cases, it may be possible after a certain amount of time has passed, or I may help you connect with another therapist who would be a better fit.
